Phyllis Mays Huber, 71, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, April 1st, 2018 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Rick Mitchell officiating. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:30 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Ms. Huber was born August 18, 1946, in Macon, GA, daughter of Jean Purvis Mays of Columbus, GA and the late Jim B. Mays. Throughout her life, she worked as a Purchasing Agent for the Veteran's Administration, Manager for Jindo International Fur Salon, Real Estate Agent for ERA and Long & Foster Realty and was a Customer Service Representative for Green Point Mortgage. She received many accolades during her career: she was the manager of a company recognized for "Best in Sales" from all Post Exchanges while living in Germany, earned and obtained certification in Dual Agency, HUD, and VA/FHA agreements, and in 1977, was recognized as an "Outstanding Young Woman of America" from the State of Georgia. She was also a volunteer for the Court Appointed Special Advocates program (CASA) and a Community Literacy Program Volunteer in Alexandria, VA and Columbus, GA.
Survivors, other than her mother, include her son, Charles Pekor (Karla) of Gainesville, VA, sister, Cindy Mays-Haines of Columbus, GA, brother, Jimmy Mays of Columbus, GA, and grandchildren, Russell Pekor and Charles Pekor of Gainesville, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis MS Society www.nationalmssociety.org.
