Peter J. Burnham, 66, of Waverly Hall, GA died Sunday, June 10, 2018 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 16, 2018 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Chaplain Allison Owen officiating. A private family interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Mr. Burnham was born July 30, 1951 in Green Bay, WI son of the late Richard and Joan Fisher Burnham. Raised in Green Bay, Peter was an avid Packer fan his whole life. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin at Stephens Point. Peter reunited with his family in Columbus, GA where his mother, Joan, had taken a teaching position at Columbus State. Peter will be well remembered for running/managing Dee Fords, the best night spot in Columbus for many years.
Peter was very active in those years in the Fountain City Jaycees and chaired the "Clean the Green"- clean up Columbus Campaign that won state awards for community service.
He later went into the Carpet Business with Keith Williams Flooring and was known throughout the Real Estate industry and widely respected for his excellent service. Peter loved to laugh, appreciated a good joke and was always willing to help others.
Survivors include his loving wife, Vanessa Burnham of Waverly Hall, GA, step-children, Jennifer Wyatt of Powder Springs, GA, Theodore Burzynski of Columbus, GA, 4 grandsons, 1 great-grandchild, brother, James Burnham of Athens, GA, sisters, Ellen Smoke (Bob) of Sonoma, CA and Janet Burnham of Oakland, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
