Mr. Pete McCoy, 83, of Columbus was welcomed home on Monday, January 24, 2011 by his parents Millard Frank McCoy and Rose Lloyd McCoy; brother, Charles T. McCoy; sisters, Sarah Wood and Elevlyn Rodgers; grandchildren, David Shane Jones and Michael Ryan McCoy.
Graveside services will be held 2 P.M., Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Parkhill Cemetery with Rev. Mike Yarbrough officiating. Family and friends will celebrate Pete's life after the service at Fairview Baptist Church fellowship hall, 2913 Reese Road, Columbus, GA 31907. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 till 7 P.M. at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.
Pete was born September 26, 1927 in Lee County, AL son of the late Millard Frank McCoy and Rose Lloyd McCoy. He always owned his own business from days of youth selling newspapers, running a laundry mat to several service stations. His love of our Lord was evident by his devotion to his church, Fairview Baptist, as head usher for many years.
Survivors include his feisty sister, Rosemary McCoy DeBrabant of Midland, GA; his children, Cynthia Russell of Columbus, GA, Annette Dowis (Court) of Pine Mountain, GA and Mike McCoy (Jackie) of Columbus, GA; ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and a special niece, Pat Larid.
The family will accept flowers but those so desiring may make contributions to American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 1382, Columbus, GA 31902.
