Pauline Rosella Vining Kierschnick

Pauline Rosella Vining Kieschnick, 92, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Midtown Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 5, 2014 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Eric Estes officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 4, 2014 from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Kieschnick was born May 10, 1922 in Columbus, GA, the eldest of nine children born to the late Clarence R. Vining and Myrtle Tomblin Vining. She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, aunt , grandmother, great grandmother and lifelong friend. She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Pauline, Polly or Aunt Polly, as she was so fondly known, was an avid flower gardner. She loved working with her flowers and was well known for her so called "green thumb". She would root many cuttings from her flowers and share with famly members and friends, but was most noted for the cuttings from her gardenia bushes and the sharing of these new plants. This was only one of her many hobbies, but it was very dear to her. She also had a very extensive work history throughout her life, which included working at Schusler, Inc., sales clerk at Sears and Montgomery Wards and then to the Gas Light Company of Columbus. In 1966, she met and married her loving husband and then retired and became a homemaker.
Other than her parents, Mrs. Kieschnick was preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter O. Kieschnick, Jr., her sister, Mrs. Dorothy Vining McNally of Oklahoma City, OK, and her brothers, Malcolm T. VIning of Hardy, VA and Kenneth E. Vining of Smith Station, AL.
Survivors include two sons, Arthur Vining Raines of Salem, AL and Collis R. Raines of Columbus, GA; two grandsons, Rusty Raines (Julie) of Fortson, GA and Chris Raines of Indianapolis, IN; one great grandson, Logan E. Raines of Fortson, GA; sisters, Delores VIning Knox of Hahira, GA, Sara Vining Shirk (Bill) of Warner Robins, GA and Joyce Vining Williams (Charlie) of Columbus, GA; brothers, Donald P. Vining (Bobbie) of Fortson, GA and Daniel W. Vining (Beth) of Covington, GA; two special nieces, Donna McNally Wilson (Bob) of Broken Arrow, OK and Michele Knox of Green Cove Springs, FL and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Alzheimer's Association of Columbus, 5900 River Rd., Suite 301, Columbus, GA 31904; the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 4700 Armour Rd., Columbus, GA 31904 or a charity of your choice.
