Paul Ray Uptain, 54, of Cataula, GA died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 12 Noon Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Vernon Prather officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, December 4, 2009 from 6 to 8 PM at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Uptain was born August 18, 1955 in Columbus, GA son of Barbara Jones of Cataula, GA and the late Terry Ray Uptain. He was part owner and operator of J & J Food Mart. He had previously worked for the W.C. Bradley Company for 25 years and was a Baptist by faith. Other than his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Shepler.
Other than his mother, survivors include his daughters, Amanda Allen (David) of Phenix City, AL and Tressa Horne (Lance) of Waverly Hall, GA, sisters, Beverly Deems of Cataula, GA, Pam Lanford of Toney, AL and Carmela Uptain of Friendship, WI, paternal grandmother, Lillie Mae Uptain of Florence, AL, grandchild, McKinley Allen of Phenix City, AL, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and family members, and special friends, Jonathan and Kelly Carver and their family of Cataula, GA.
