Paul Stephen Singletary, 70 of Columbus died peacefully Friday December 1, 2023 with his loving family and friends by his side.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday December 7, 2023 at Striplin Terrace Methodist Church with Pastor Rodney Porter and Pastor Steve Patton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. A private burial will be held after the service on his family's farm in Plains, GA according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Paul was born January 24, 1953 to the late John Len Singletary and Mary Virgene Carter Singletary. He was a proud father and grandfather, an orchestra teacher with the Muscogee County School District for 33 years, a long time member of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and a member of Striplin Terrace United Methodist Church. He was a life long learner and thinker, appreciated a good sense of humor, and remained interested in causes for human rights inspired by his family's legacy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, John Len Singletary and Harold Kevin Singletary. Survivors include his daughters, Rachel Singletary Gates (Daniel) of Irondale, AL, Marie Singletary Larson (Chris) of Ft. Campbell, KY, grandson, Daniel Paul Gates of Irondale, AL, sisters, Leila Mae Singletary of Roswell, GA, Dr. Mary Sue Singletary of Woodstock, GA, step-father, Jerome Spires of Plains, GA and former spouse, Lenley Singletary of Columbus, GA.
