Patricia Rathel Hemmings
November 8, 1946 — January 18, 2014
Columbus, GA- Patricia (Pat) Rathel Hemmings-Gow of Columbus, Ga., after years of battling leukemia, Pat Gow, 67, met her Savior at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services to be held at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA Tuesday, January 21st at 2:00 PM. Burial will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, January 20th, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
Patricia was raised in Columbus, Ga. with her five siblings. She was a retired Special Education Teacher in MCSD. She was a charismatic woman with a heart to serve; teaching countless children to read and giving to the homeless through
The Valley Rescue Mission. When she wasn't sipping tea with her dog, Jasmine, she enjoyed her many seniors luncheons, bible studies, and reading to her young grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents: Jay Rathel and Ethel Chance Rathel. Her siblings: Rita McGraw, Jerry Rathel, and Thomas Rathel.
Surviors are her two daughters, Yvette Hemmings and Kristin Shreve; son- in-law, SSG Robert Shreve; grandchildren, Jason Kayle Bagley, Wesley Bagley, Abigail Shreve, and Alston Shreve; her siblings, Herold Rathel and Carol Mims.
The family would like to give deepest gratitude to her Oncologist Dr. Andrew Pippas and the staff at John. B. Amos Cancer center.
