Pat passed away at her residence on December 27,2023.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, January 2nd from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. A private interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery.

She was born in Gadsden Alabama on May 17, 1944 to the late EL Jackson, Jr and Frances Loree Colwell. Pat and her family moved to Columbus Ga where she was a 1962 graduate of Jordan High School as well as a participant in the Miss Columbus Pageant. She cherished her classmates and her participation with each class reunion.

Pat married Fred Updike in 1962 and they settled in Columbus Georgia where they raised 5 children. Pat was an accomplished business owner. In earlier years, she worked in TV and radio and sold insurance before obtaining her Real Estate License. She was the owner of ERA Updike Realtors, the Water Wiz and Columbus Batting Cages. She was a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Club with the Columbus Board of Realtors and was well respected in the Real Estate Community. But if you asked Pat, her greatest accomplishment were her children and grandchildren, who affectionately called her Gaga. She was so proud of each of them and they were truly her inspiration and joy. She was Gaga not only to her grandchildren, but their friends as well. She loved with her whole heart.
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her son Freddie Updike, her brother Larry Jackson and her stepdaughter, Mary Elizabeth Justice, along with husbands Spud Bass and Al Fleming.

Pat is survived by a sister, Phyllisia Jackson, stepson Spud Bass, Daughter Vicki Updike Hardage, Daughter Missy Lemons (Donnie), Son Johnny Updike (Stephanie), Daughter Jenny James (Shane) and Grandchildren, Stephanie Bass, Beth Sauerbrun, Chase Hardage, Madison Bass, Haley Hardage, Caden Lemons, John Updike, Abigail Bass, Sydney James, Freddie Updike, Max Lemons, Ellie James, Adalyn Updike.

Mom, you were loved by so many, and gave so much love in return. Until we see you again
hold Freddie tight. What an amazing reunion that must have been.
