P. Louise Layfield Vinson, 84, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mike McBride officiating. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Vinson was born December 22, 1926 in Wilcox County, GA daughter of the late William J. and Eliza Johnson Layfield. She retired after 37 years as a weaver for Bibb Manufacturing Company. She was a member of Trinity Assembly of God where she was a Sunday School Superintendent for twelve years and was also a Sunday School Teacher.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Johnny Vinson, sons, Alan Vinson and George Raffield, brother, Ralph Layfield, and a grandson, George Raffield, Jr.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Edna Vinson of Columbus, GA, sister, Rubye Bruce of Columbus, GA, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
