Oscar Coulter, 84, of Columbus, Ga. died Friday, September 18, 2009 at the Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, September 21, 2009 at Beallwood Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Duncan and Reverend Clark Standard officiating. The following will serve as pallbearers; Carl Williams, C.L. Moffitt, Jack Hendrix, Fred Kelly, Stan Allen, Gary Allen. There will be a private Interment at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentain Blvd. Columbus, Ga. 31907.
Mr. Coulter was born November 16, 1924 in Phenix City, Al.son of the late Oscar F. Coulter and Mamie L. Barbee. He was a lifelong member of Beallwood Baptist Church where he was very active with the nursery. He was U.S. Army Veteran. He retired after 30 years from Georgia Power. He received an award from Georgia Power for the oldest retiree of 60 years. Mr. Coulter was preceded in death by his sisters, Gertha Furtick, Eula Mae McVay, Gladys Taylor, and a brother Homer Coulter.
Survivors include his wife Mildred Ray Coulter of Columbus, GA, daughters, Linda Owens (Arthur) of Covington, Ga, Nancy McDonald (Ronald) of Cataula, GA, Brenda Matthews (Steve) of Cataula, GA, sister, Katherine Trail of Tarheel, NC, grandchildren, Jeff Owens, Chris Owens, Tammy Hanfman, Tracy Reaves, Terrie George, Christy Lundy, and Amy Faul, and twelve great grandchildren.
