Orland Givens

Shelly Orland Givens 90 passed away Friday, March 30, 2018 at his home in Hamilton, Ga.
Funeral services will be held 2pm, Tuesday April 3, 2018 at the Chapel at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus Ga officiated by Dr. Michael Stewart. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Givens was born July 31, 1927 in Headland, Al, son of the late Thomas Jefferson Givens and Effie Parker Givens. He was a World War II veteran. Over his lifetime he worked as a mechanic in Headland, Dothan and Columbus. Before retirement he was working at Fort Benning civil service.
Mr. Givens was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed hunting, shooting pool and dancing at both VFW Posts in Columbus and Cataula.
Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Joyce Murray Givens, former wife Cornelia Summersett Givens, one sister Agnes Mims and two brothers Edward Gray Givens and JT Givens.
Survivors to honor his memory include his daughter Debra Givens Hall; his companion, Martha Varderman Love of Waverly Hall, GA, two special nieces Bonnie Mathis of Headland, AL and Katherine Miller of Columbus, GA and four step children, Jeff Murray, Norma, Joy, and David and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to nephew Tony Miller for his help from Kindred Hospice the last days of his life.
