Oren Ray Ward, 82, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, February 12, 2023 at his residence.
Oren was born July 18, 1940 in Sandy Springs, West Virginia to John Edward Ward and Edith Lane Ward. After serving in the United States Army, Oren worked for the Department of the Army’s Range Control Division which he retired from after many years of service.
Oren enjoyed hunting, fishing, college softball, and Bluegrass music as he was an excellent banjo player. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joann Ward; Sons, Roger Ward (wife Betty), Michael Ward; grandchildren, Jonathan Goodman, Loren Brooke Ward, Shannon Taylor Ward, Kasey Leigh Ward; great-grandchildren, Kylie Addyson Velazquez, Annistyn Kate Ward, Daisy Ray Devane. All residing in Columbus, GA. He also has 2 nieces; Rhonda Bumgarner Ward and family, Becky Herrington and family, Randy Dornan and family and stepmother Mildred Singleton Ward residing in West Virginia.
He is preceded in death by brother Olen Ward and his wife Helen Ward, niece Joyce Dornan, father John E. Ward and mother Edith Lane Ward.
