Norman F. Peevy died peacefully on Thursday, November 23, 2017 in Columbus, Georgia at the age of 81.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, November 27, 2017 at Cascade Hills Church, 727 54th Street Columbus, GA 31904 with Pastor Bob Hawkins officiating. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 26, 2017 from 3:00-5:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mr. Peevy's life.
Mr. Peevy was born on August 18, 1936 in Atlanta, Georgia to Marion & Sarah Peevy. After meeting the love of his life Lamartine at the Dwarf House in 1957, they married on September 6, 1958. In July of 1975, they moved to Columbus, Georgia to open Columbus' first Chick-fil-A in Peachtree Mall. In 1998 they opened the first free standing Chick-fil-A in Columbus on Bradley Park Drive. Even after retiring from Chick-fil-A in 2008, Mr. Peevy missed his friends in the community so much that he continued to work at Country's North Barbecue until his health no longer allowed.
Mr. Peevy was a generous, witty, dedicated man who loved God, his family, University of Georgia Football, and anyone he crossed paths with. He made sure everyone he knew and loved was taken care of and would give them his own shirt if they needed it.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lamartine Peevy and his parents Marion & Sarah Peevy.
Norman is survived by his daughters Normandy (Jim) McKenna and Cindy (Debbie) Peevy. His grandchildren Craig (Ashlee) McKenna, Christopher McKenna, and Amanda McKenna, as well as great-grandchildren Ryleigh & Ryan McKenna
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to the Dementia Society of America, www.dementiasociety.org.
