Darahyl Dennis, 65 of Newnan, Georgia, beloved husband, father and friend, died Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the age of 65 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
Services celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 9th, at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Georgia 31907. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.
Mr. Dennis was born October 18, 1951 in Bainbridge, Georgia, the son of John and Myrtle Dennis. He was a 1970 graduate of Jordan High School, Columbus, Georgia and obtained his B.S. degree from Columbus State University in Environmental Science in 1974. Darahyl served the Southern Company faithfully for over 34 years where he retired June 2011 as Georgia Power Environmental Affairs Manager.
Darahyl lived a lifelong passion of music and the outdoors. He loved his soul music and spent many hours playing his bass and listening to his favorite Motown, Stax, and R&B artists. He loved fishing and hunting with his dogs and loved spending time with family and friends. He had a passion to be the best father to his two sons and loved them dearly.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kay Dennis of Newnan, GA, his sons, Jeff Dennis of Atlanta, GA, Adam Dennis, Newnan, GA, his brother, John Dennis and wife, Linda of Citrus Heights, California and his sister, Mary Martin, Columbus, GA; many nieces and nephews and four beloved short hair pointers.
