Norman Baxter Bradfield, Senior, 86, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on March 20, 2022 after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Norman was born on November 1, 1935 in Lanett, Alabama. He graduated from West Point High School in 1954 and matriculated to Auburn where he completed a BA in business, class of 1959.

Norman’s Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 25 at 11am at Wynnbrook Baptist Church with a visitation immediately following. The Services will be live streamed on the Wynnbrook Baptist Church website (www.wynnbrookbaptist.com) and on the church’s Facebook and YouTube pages.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Ballard Bradfield; his brothers Murray (Barbara) and Alvin (Jane); and his son-in-law Lucius Powers (Lisa).

Norman served his country in the Air National Guard. He retired as a Senior Agent with Allstate after 38 years. He was an active member of Wynnbrook Baptist Church.

Norman was an accomplished musician, playing the piano, guitar, ukulele, and harmonica. He was blessed with a beautiful baritone singing voice. He was in his element accompanying his family while singing together. This brought him immense joy. Norman also enjoyed woodworking, ballroom dancing, gardening with his bride, and storytelling, the latter of which culminated in a novel about his boyhood hijinks. He was an avid reader of Scripture and good books.

Norman and Jenny enjoyed a great love and were blessed with 62 years of happy marriage. He was a loving father and Papa to his grands.

He will be remembered as a spiritual shepherd to many young couples through his decades of service as a Sunday School teacher at Britt David Baptist Church, as well as a source of Godly counsel and prayer for all blessed to know him.

He is survived by the love of his life, Jenny Lou Leverett Bradfield; his brother, Claborne (Ann); his devoted children Lisa Powers, Laurie Money (Jim), Norman Baxter “Brad” Bradfield, Jr. (Dawn), and his “adopted” son from Cuba, Luís (Devon; daughters Carolina and Camila); his doting grandchildren Jenny Lee Hattaway (Brett), Emily Money Hendrick (Micah), James Caleb Money (Lauren), Julianna Money, Norman Baxter Bradfield III, Mary Casey Stone (Christopher), Roby Bradfield, and Isabelle Powers; six beloved great-grandchildren; and numerous adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

We celebrate this line made true for Norman: “I will cling to the Old Rugged Cross, and exchange it someday for a crown.”
