Nettie Virginia Russell, 90, of Columbus, GA went to her heavenly home surrounded by her family Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Monday, May 10, 2010 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David E. Smith officiating. A private interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 till 5 PM at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Russell was born May 29, 1919 in Alabama City, AL daughter of the late Jesse L. and Evie Lenore May York Gayton. She was a homemaker.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Willard Purvis Russell and a daughter, Peggy King.
Survivors include her children, Shelby Storey (Melton) of LaGrange, GA, Reba McCullough (Buddy) of Waverly Hall, GA, Brenda Russell of Columbus, GA, Diane Stewart (Ken) of Dalton, GA, Wanda Nason (Larry) of Columbus, GA, Claudia Anderson of Cataula, GA, Buddy Russell (Linda) of Chattanooga, TN, Wayne Russell of Hamilton, GA and Vandy Russell (Patsy) of Smiths, AL, sister, Naomi Woods of Orlando, FL, brother, Jesse Gayton, Jr. (Betty) of Chattanooga, TN, 20 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
