Nellie Faye Ritter Dias also known as Nell, Nellie Belly, Sister or Sis Nana and Mama, 75, of Shiloh, GA, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023.
Nellie was born March 7, 1948 in Talbot County, Georgia to the late James E. Ritter and Mae C. Ritter. She was a hard worker. She was the first female apprentice from Local 52 Pipefitters and Welders. She was also the first female maintenance mechanic at Mead Coated Board. She retired from Mead in 2012. She paved the way for women in those fields of work. She was also an inspiration to both of her daughters and her grandchildren. There was nothing that she could not do or fix. She was opinionated and passionate about what she believed and she was as hard headed as they came. If she loved you, well you had nothing to worry about. If she did not cuss you out at least one time, you can bet you were not important to her at all. Nellie had many friends and family that loved her and will miss her. She is rejoicing with all of her family and old friends that are waiting for her. She can relax and be pain free now. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Tex Ritter, Robert Ritter, Charlie Ritter, John Vigil Ritter, and Henry Dwight Ritter.
Nellie is survived by two daughters, Angela Gail Covington (Kenneth), Michelle Dias (Jeff), three beloved grandkids, Christopher Covington (Lyndsey), Vicki Covington, Madie Dias, two amazing great-grandkids, Colton James Covington, Hunter Bryce Covington, a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, as well as two daughters of the heart Suzanne Kraus (Jeff), Charity Glenn (Todd) and one son of the heart Drew Hopkin (Kellie).
In order to follow her very strict after death instructions, she does not want a viewing or funeral and please no flowers. So, we will have a memorial service at a later time to celebrate her life. If you feel the need to donate, please do so to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
Her final words found in her paperwork: Be happy and know that I loved each and every one of you with all my heart, soul, and being. Am very proud of the independence to both my girls!! I appreciate each and every one of you for loving me and tolerating me even with all my faults and flaws. I appreciate all y’all do for me and have done for me. Love and be there for each other!!
Rest Mama. We will make you proud.
