Myrtle Humber, 92, of Columbus formally of Albany, GA, died Monday, January 25, 2016 at Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Roy Cook officiating. Interment will be held in the Lumpkin City Cemetery, Lumpkin, GA. The family will receive friends following the services at the funeral home.
Ms. Humber was born October 26, 1923 in Stewart County, Georgia, daughter of the late E.B. and Wistalone Johnson. She was a school teacher in Lumpkin and Columbus, GA, and a homemaker to her family. She was a Member of Gillionville Baptist Church in Albany, GA and a former member of First Baptist Church of Albany, GA, and Wynnton (Wynnbrook) Baptist Church in Columbus, GA. She taught women's Sunday School classes for over 50 years.
Ms. Humber was pre-deceased by her husband, Charles Humber. Survivors include four sons; Marvin Humber (Jane) of Jacksonville, FL, Frank Humber (Jennifer) of Franklin, TN, Stephen Humber (Sally) of Columbus, GA, William Humber (Melinda) of Wake Forest, NC, four sister-in-laws; Mary Frances Olds of Warren, NJ, Alice Rhyne of Denver, CO, Nancy Buchholz (Richard) of Denver, CO, Lillian Fielding of Thomasville, GA, one brother-in-law; John Humber (Sheila) of Adel, GA, and a daughter-in-law; Pamela Humber of Columbus, GA, 12 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to Gentiva 100 Brookstone Centre Parkway Columbus, GA 31904.
