Myrtle Hamby, 88, of Columbus, GA died Friday, May 18, 2018 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Jack Wallace officiating. A private family entombment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hamby was born January 18, 1930 in Coffee, AL daughter of the late John and Cubadeen Hanchey Mills. She worked for Sunshine Biscuit and loved to sew, shop, volunteer and gardening. She received the Rose Award from Vista Care Hospice and was also a member of Altman Memorial Baptist Church.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Hamby.
Survivors include her son, Tony Hamby (Sally) of Columbus, GA, sister, Iris Mills Burks (Rudolph) of Hardaway, AL, grandchildren, Matthew and Joshua Hamby both of Columbus, GA, great grandson, Hunter Hamby and numerous nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to Altman Memorial Baptist Church 8960 Veterans Parkway Midland, GA 31820.
