Mureen Dunn Marsh, 88, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2012 in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, June 30, 2012 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Lix and Bro. Darrick Bell officiating. A private interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Marsh was born December 3, 1923 in Fairfax, AL daughter of the late Archie L. and Pearl Floyd Dunn. She and her husband, Chester Henry Marsh, have been married for 69 years. They met and married while he was stationed in the Army at Ft. Benning, GA. During their married life, they lived in Columbus, GA, Japan, Ft. Campbell, KY, and Owego, New York. She has resided in Columbus for the past 52 years and is a founding and lifetime member of Southside Baptist Church. She was a dedicated volunteer for the Food Bank at Southside Baptist Church for many years. She loved every child she ever met, and was continuously involved with children through daycare in her home and with the nursery and other classes for children at Southside Baptist Church. She loved cooking, especially for her family, gardening, and sewing baby quilts.
She is survived by her husband, SFC Chester Henry Marsh, Ret. of Columbus, three sons, Chester Wayne Marsh (Carolyn) of Lakeland, FL, Richard Alden Marsh (Bettina) of Phenix City, AL and John Randy Marsh (Debbie) of Mulberry, FL, eight grandchildren, Tracy, Stephanie, Kimberly, Mandy, Tiffany, Joshua, Caleb and Nathan, and six great grandchildren.
The family extends a special thanks for the caregiving, love and kindness of her caregiver and niece, Debbie Jones. Thank you also to the staff of Columbus Hospice and the local Alzheimerâ
