MSGT (Ret.) Hubert D. McNeer, 89, of Hamilton, GA died Monday, January 16, 2012 at his residence.
Graveside services with full Military Honors will be held 11:30 A.M., Friday, January 20, 2012 at Parkhill Cemetery with Rev. Jim Hilderbrand officiating, according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.
MSGT (Ret.) McNeer was born December 5, 1922 in Lexington, MS., son of the late Anzoe Tate McNeer Justice and Clarence E. McNeer. He was a Retired U. S. Army Master Sergeant with 20 years service. He served during World War II as chief of the gun section for the heavy artillery, 2nd Infantry Division. He was a sharp shooter expert in M1 Riffle and the 90 MM tank gun. After his retirement from the military, he went to work for Wells Dairies as a route man and retired from there after 15 years. He loved watching football, wildlife and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Hilda McNeer and grandson, Jody McNeer.
Survivors include his sons, Hubert McNeer, Jr. (Ann) of Hamilton, GA, Scott McNeer (Jerri) of Millbrook, AL, James McNeer of Columbus, GA; daughter, Tracy McNeer of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Lori Forgue (Mike), Tammy Jackson (Andy), David McNeer (Mary), Michael McNeer, Meg McNeer, Haley Smith and William McNeer; nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
