Mr. Earl Leo Goree, 70, of Midland, GA passed away Monday, October 14, 2024 in West Monroe, LA.
Funeral and visitation services will be held at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 23, 2024. A private interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.
Earl Goree was an outstanding man of God who embodied the essence of unconditional love, support, and devotion to his wife and family. Earl was born on August 6, 1954 in Simsboro, LA. to the late Leon Ellis and Flossie Mae Goree Davis. While attending Grambling State University, Earl played on the football team and worked as a DJ, which fueled and propelled his strong passion for music. Not long afterwards, Earl enlisted into the U.S. Army. After completing multiple tours of countries that included Germany, Korea, Iraq,and Kuwait, Earl concluded his military career and began his legendary venture as a business owner with his amazing wife Sun Goree. Together, they launched an array of successful businesses in Columbus, GA, the most popular being “Jenkins Brother’s Beauty & Barber” and “Cellular Plus”. Whether they were on a winning or losing streak, Earl was also known as being the most dedicated and loyal Cowboys fan, as he always represented his team with pride because that is the type of man that he was: loyal and dedicated.
Other than his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his brother, Terrell Davis; his Aunt, Jessye Sammie Wess; and Uncle, Tommy Wess.
Survivors include his wife, Sun Su Goree of Midland, GA; children, Kimberly Suzanne Goree of Columbus, GA, Douglas James Goree of Manor, TX; grandchildren, Kara Sarai Goree of Manor, TX, Kristopher De’Vante Goree of Columbus, GA, and Mireya Goree of Atlanta, GA; aunts, Lettie Rochelle of Arcadia, LA, Mittie Alexander of Stockton, CA; uncle, Lenward Goree (Annie B) of Simsboro, LA; siblings, Jeff Davis (Adrianna) of Manteca, CA, Reginald Davis (Demetria) of Lathrop, CA, Dwayne Davis of Emeryville, CA; brother-in-law’s, Minsu Kim (Chong Won) of El Paso TX, Hyuon Su Kim of El Paso TX, Myoung Su Kim (Miae) of Kenya; sister-in-law, Chong Su Booker; nieces, Taylor Davis of Stockton CA, Yein Kim of Afghanistan, Arum Kim of London; nephews, Earnest Booker Jr. (Lydia) of Round Rock, TX, Yong Hoon Kim (Yong Mi) of San Francisco, CA, Stephen Kim of Amsterdam, David Kim of Virginia, Anthony Kim of Dallas, TX, Denny Kim of Dallas, TX; and numerous other family and friends.
