Morris Philip Wynn, Jr died peacefully at his home in Columbus, Georgia on July 24, 2024.
He was born on March 12,1939 in Columbus, son of Gladys Malloy Wynn and Morris Philip Wynn. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1958 and attended Georgia Military College and the University of Georgia. He was also in the Army Reserves. Morris returned home to Columbus to run the family business, Columbus Body Works, with his mother and uncle. It is one of the oldest body shops in the Southeast with its first location opening in 1918 on Broad Street in downtown Columbus. Morris’ keen business acumen and his love of customer service enabled the business to expand to other locations in town. During his career, he and a group of other members of the body shop community formed the “Eagle Strategy Group” which consisted of the top 20 body shop owners across the United States. His vision enabled this group to network, share best practices and engage with each other in a collaborative setting. Morris loved watching college football, fishing on the weekends, playing tennis and especially helping others. He was a “quiet disciple of Christ” with a servant heart. He loved helping others in a manner that truly defined his character. He adored spending quality time in his beloved mountain home in Cashiers, North Carolina where he frequently attended the Cashiers Methodist Church, and he was a member of the Cedar Creek Racquet Club. He was Past President of the Quarterback Club, served on various boards to include the Chamber of Commerce, Country Club of Columbus, St. Paul United Methodist Church, and other organizations in Columbus. He was a faithful member of St. Luke Church over the last three years.
