Monica Leigh Cayce, a beacon of light and love, peacefully departed this world on November 9, 2024, at the age of 64, after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed away at Columbus Hospice surrounded by the warmth of her family, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and selfless giving.
A celebration of life service will be held 4:00 PM Saturday, November 16, 2024 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Monica was born on May 21, 1960, in San Diego, California, Monica's zest for life and her radiant spirit were evident from the very beginning. Her marriage to her soulmate, Steven Cayce, was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they raised a family that became the center of Monica's world. Her son, Eric Cayce, and his wife, Connie, brought joy into her life, further multiplied by her beloved grandson, Brilee Huddle. Monica's daughter, Elizabeth Singletary, together with her husband, Justin, and their daughter, Violet, added layers of love and laughter to Monica's life, creating memories that will forever be cherished.
Monica transformed her passion for beauty and her innate talent for bringing out the best in others into a fulfilling career. For over four decades, Monica served as a hair stylist, touching the lives of countless individuals. She wasn't just a stylist; she was a confidante, a friend, and a part of her clients' lives. Her chair was more than a place for a haircut—it was a haven of stories, laughter, and connection.
She traveled the world with her husband and best friends, exploring new cultures and creating memories that would last a lifetime. Her adventurous spirit was matched by her love for the simple pleasures in life—like the beauty of a well-tended garden and the immersive world of a good book. Monica's love for animals shone brightly in her care for her many dogs, each of whom she loved as a member of her own family.
Mondays held a special place in Monica's heart, as they were reserved for spending time with her adored granddaughter, Violet. These cherished moments were filled with laughter, learning, and the kind of love that transcends generations. Monica's legacy is one of boundless affection and the importance of nurturing family bonds.
