Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Trinity Episcopal Church, located at 1100 First Ave. Columbus, GA 31901, with Father Tim Graham officiating. A visitation will be held at 6:00 PM Friday, April 5, 2024, at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Thorington was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on May 3, 1959, to Mrs. Christiana Ernest, who resides in Columbus, GA. Mona was an Advance Medical Administrative Assistant for the Department of Veterans Affairs, where she dedicated over 30 years of service.
Devoting her life to service and ministry, she served as a vestry member of Trinity, as well as a member of the Daughters of the King. She was a cornerstone of the children’s ministry, igniting the love of God in hundreds of children through her teaching. Her joy in the Lord was evident through her talents in intercessory prayer, singing, fashion, and education, having advanced degrees in childhood education and medical administration. Out of all the roles she held in life, the one she was most proud of was being the best and sole caregiver to her 100-year-old mother for over three decades, a devoted mother, and best friend to a child that shares and delights in many of her talents, and her dedication to curating a beautiful home with her husband. She fulfilled God’s earthly mission by spreading kindness, joy, and the spirit of Christ. She remained ever joyful and grateful to meet her Father God in heaven.
