Miriam Holmes Watford, 92, of Columbus, GA passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Columbus Hopsice at Midtown Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, November 6, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Robert Beckum, Dr. Frank Parr, and Reverend Mark Sasser officiating. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Watford was born June 15, 1923 in Houston County, AL daughter of the late Lee Harvey and Alie Frith Holmes. She was educated in the schools of Houston County and graduated from Cottonwood High School. Mrs. Watford was employed in retail sales by Kiralfy's of Columbus for over 25 years. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed gardening and raising African Violets. She loved the East Highland United Methodist Church where she was a member for almost 60 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Watford Revell, a brother, Leon C. Holmes, and a sister, Anita Holmes Brown.
Survivors include her two daughters, June Watford Reese (Dick) of Columbus, GA and Daisy Watford Stiebel (Michael) of Myrtle Beach, SC, six grandchildren, Melonie Reese Phillips (Earl), Lacey Revell Ragan (Dan), Anna Revell Walden (Greg), Sean D. Lee all of Columbus, GA and Scott Reese (Crista) of Tallahassee, FL and Danielle Lee Qureshi (Jeff) of Ft. Worth, TX, and 12 great grandchildren.
