Miriam Settles Smith

Miriam Settles Smith, 88, passed away on September 28, 2024 in Americus, GA just two days shy of her 89 birthday.

A Celebration of a Life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 4, 2024 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907, with Rev. Jonathan Jenkins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private interment will be held at a later date at Mt. Oliver Cemetery in Cusseta, GA where she will be buried next to the love of her life, John E. Smith, III who passed on January 16, 2009.

Miriam was born Oct. 1, 1935 in Coleman, GA to the late Merrell Odell Settles and Amy Lumpkin Rossingnol Settles. Miriam, or as her family called her, “Mom” or “Mimi” loved life. She loved any and all kinds of travel with her favorites being time spent at her family’s lake property at Lake Eufaula, trips to their home away from home in Panama City, and any and all cruises. She loved good food and a good glass of wine. Her favorite meal of all was dessert. She loved to put on her Keith Urban CD’s and do damage with her love of online shopping. She loved jewelry and shoes but most of all, she loved her family. She never missed a family event, unless she couldn’t help it. She was most proud of her children and grandchildren. Her infectious laugh will be missed greatly.

She is survived by her son: Mel Smith (Mandy) of Cataula, GA. daughter: Sandy Smith of Columbus, GA and grandchildren: Cayden Smith, Cali Smith, Brittani Clary, Brent Clary, Addy Clary, Effie Clary and Trace Clary.
