Miriam Jean King Gilliland, 84, of Lake City, FL died Wednesday, February 11, 2015 in Lake City.
Mrs. Gilliland lived most of her life in Columbus, GA. She graduated from Jordan High School in 1948 and was a member of Beallwood Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gilliland was born May 6, 1930 in Phenix City, AL to the late Roy Cornelius and Thadde Bell King. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Wayne S. Gilliland. She is survived by three daughters, Pam Crail (Dale) of Evans, GA, Debra G. Douglas (Vernon) of Lake City, FL and Paula G. Winderweedle (Rick) of Hoschton, GA; brother, Richard C. King of Smiths Station, AL; seven grandchildren, Tim Campbell (Billie), Shannon C. Sawyer (Curtis), Will Ray (Laura), Ben Ray, Hannah Thummel, Ryan Winderweedle (Beth), and Rachel W. Campbell (Mark); and eleven great grandchildren.
Jean was a Christian and an active member of her church. For several years, she served as teacher and director of Hillcrest Baptist Church Preschool. Later in life she developed her artistic talent and enjoyed painting and drawing. Jean will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who loved her family and served her Lord.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Billy Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday, February 16, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
Flowers or memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital will be accepted.
