Mildred Elizabeth Tomlinson, 85, of 2954 Christine Rd. Columbus, GA died Sunday, September 4, 2011 at her home.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jimmy Little officiating. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Tomlinson was born July 20, 1926 in Columbus, GA to the late Aylmer Hollis McGuffey and the late Eddie McGuffey. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church. She loved to sew and crochet. She also loved to bake cornbread.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Laurene McGuffey and Betty McMillian and her husband, Tiny, Nell Wangle and husband, Robert Wangle, and Lucille Donahue.
Mrs. Tomlinson is survived by her husband, Thomas Tomlinson of Columbus, GA, daughters, Janie Lebish and husband, Jerry of Columbus, GA, Carol Lennon and husband, Bert of Carlisle, PA, Crystal King of Franklin, NC and Debbie Vanderbilt of Davenport, FL, sons, Jim Elkins and wife, Carmen of Las Vegas, NV, Randy Elkins and wife, Patsy of Columbus, GA and Bill Tomlinson and wife, Becky of Asheville, NC, grandsons, Fred Morpeth and wife, Wanda of Columbus, GA, Grif Morpeth and wife, Shannon of Columbus, GA, Pete Elkins and wife, Nicole of Defuniac Springs, FL, David Bush and wife, Jamie of Carlisle, PA, Seth Lennon and wife, Sam of Carlisle, PA, Ryan Tomlinson of Asheville, NC, Justin Elkins of Boulder, CO and Jonathan Elkins of Columbus, GA, granddaughter, Amanda Tomlinson of Augusta, GA, great grandchildren, Brice and Preston Morpeth and Jake and Annalise Morpeth and several nieces and nephews.
