Michael "Mike" Wayne Nolin, 70, of Columbus GA died Sunday, June 14, 2020 at Piedmont Regional Hospital in Columbus, GA.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 19, 2020 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. Following the visitation, a private funeral services for family and close friends will be held with Rev. Mike McBride and Rev. Lee McBride officiating. Interment with Fireman Honors will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. Guidelines set forth by the CDC and Governor Brian Kemp to maintain social distancing for those attending the visitation will be in effect.
Mike was born June 20, 1949 in Columbus, Ga. son of the late Charlie and Rena Watson Nolin. Mike retired after 34 years for the Columbus Fire and EMS as a firefighter and first responder. After his retirement for the Fire Department, Mike worked 20 years for Maxwell Home Furniture. He loved life and never met a stranger and his love for softball, basketball and golf meant the world to him. He grew up at the 29th Street Gym where his passion for playing sports began. He played church softball and basketball while he attended Trinity Temple Assembly of God and Glenn Anthony Baptist Church. He also served over 10 years as a board member of the Senior Softball Association.
Mike loved the Lord and his family. He was involved in his children's lives and coached youth baseball and youth football for many years. He was known by his wife as her Baby or Shug and by his grandchildren as Gan-gee. He will be missed but never forgotten. To all his friends at the Columbus Fire Department, Softball, Golf and the school personal at Double Churches Elementary School and Double Churches Middle School he would say...."Keep all them grand-kids in check for him until we meet again".
Other than his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Sona L. Bush and his sister Margan Nolin Gear.
Survivors include his loving wife, Shelia Ledford Nolin, children, Phillip Michael Nolin, Rhonda Nolin Patterson and Kaycee Nolin Cherry, brother, Norman Steven Nolin, grandchildren, Clayton and Amanda Singletary, Shelby Fountain, Carley and Eli Nolin, Colton Phillips, Nolin and Callie Cherry, Cason Willis and 1 great-grandchild Mason Singletary.
