Michael “Mike” “Mo” W. Overby, Sr.

Michael “Mike” “Mo” W. Overby, Sr. 68, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM  Monday, September 11, 2023 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Chief Mark Burnette officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held following the service at Parkhill Cemetery.

Mike was born September 10, 1954 in Columbus, GA to William B. Overby and Jonell Starnes Overby. He retired as a Lieutenant after 28 years of service at the Columbus Fire Department. He also worked as a carpenter and he drove 18 wheelers. He loved to grill, cook, and raise his birds, especially chickens and pigeons.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Debbie Overby of Columbus, GA, children, Jennifer Lynn Davis (Aimee) of Salem, AL, Britt Smith of Mariana, FL, Michael Overby (Shirley) of Smiths Station, AL, Chad King (Anita), of Junction City, Chase Long of Columbus, GA, Jonathan Warwick of Columbus, GA, sister, Diane Thacker (Wayne) of Columbus, GA, brother, Billy Joe Overby (Jean) of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, David, Kayla, Blake, Christy, Bree Bree,  Gavin, Madison, Tristan, Chasity, Taylor, Remi and several great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
