MGySgt Gould passed peacefully at home in Midland, Georgia surrounded by family. He was born in Buffalo, New York to Walter and Esther (Seener) Gould. He is survived by his spouse of 52 years, Georgia (Krebs) Gould of Midland Georgia, his children, Richard Dillon and Larry Dillon (Theresa) of Grass Valley California, Kelly Jones (Dennis) of Ruther Glen Virginia, Matthew Dillon (Elizabeth) of Columbus Georgia, Walter Gould (Juanita) of Napa Valley California. His grandchildren, Autumn Dillon, Ian Dillon, Maddison Dillon and his Great Grandchildren, Taryn Gervasi and Jared Kluener. He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Esther, his sister Sharon Sidoti and his beloved Granddaughter Jennifer (Jones) Wiltshire.

MGySgt Gould enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in January 1954. Upon graduating boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina he was stationed at the Marine Corps Air Facility, Opa-Locka, Florida. Upon completion of his 2-year enlistment he returned to civilian life in Buffalo, New York and worked at Bell Aircraft while continuing to serve in the Marine Corps Reserves. He re-entered the Marine Corps in August 1960. He graduated Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) School in October 1962 and remained in this job for the remainder of his military career, reaching Master EOD status. His numerous duty assignments include Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, 3rd Marine Division Okinawa, Japan, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Center Indianhead, Maryland, Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona, Officer Selection Recruiting Office, Chicago, Illinois and two combat tours in Vietnam (1965-1966 & 1969-1970). As the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of EOD teams throughout his career he responded to numerous downed aircraft, local bomb threats and Presidential and Congressional security sweeps. He retired from Military Service January 1990.

After military service he worked Civil Service for the United States Army at Yuma Proving Ground, Yuma Arizona as an Explosives Operator and UXO Coordinator. During this time he was a member of the Test & Development Team that designed, built and tested the Abrams Tank Mine Rake that was used during Desert Storm.

Retiring to Midland, Georgia, he successfully initiated the Columbus Georgia Marine Corps League. Contacting Marines from all eras and coordinating with the local Marine Detachment, he successfully gained charter for the Columbus Charter. He was an active member and served as Commandant making the Marine Corps League a proactive and positive force in the local community.

His awards and decorations include Master Explosive Ordnance Disposal Badge, Navy Commendation Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Presidential Unit Citation w/ Bronze Stars, Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation, Marine Corp Good Conduct, National Defense Service, Armed Forces Expeditionary w/ 2 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Service Ribbon, Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy/Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, Marine Corps Recruiting Ribbon, Vietnam Presidential Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/ Bronze Palm, Republic of Vietnam Campaign. AAS Degree in Criminal Justice.

He was a member of the Marine Corps Association, VFW Post 12110, 3rd Marine Division and DAV.

MGySgt Gould will be laid to rest with full military honors at the National Cemetery in Quanitco Virginia.
