Melvin G. Gilbert, 74, of Columbus, GA died Monday, February 28, 2022 at Ridgecrest Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Patrick Gilbert officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Melvin was born June 19, 1947 in Columbus, GA to the late Herman G. Gilbert and Edna Bunting Gilbert. He worked as a pressman for Litho Krome. He loved Georgia Football, Atlanta Brave baseball and watching his kids play football and baseball. He loved the Andy Griffith Show and ran his own Andy Griffith Trivia website. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter Jennifer Moore.
He is survived by his children, Holly Douglas of Nashville, TN, Katie Gilbert (JoJo Harris) of Lanett, AL, Laura Gilbert of Columbus, GA, Patrick “Pat” Gilbert (Joni) of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, Easton (Ashley), Lyndsey, Kaysen, Riley “Button”, Paisly “Rosie”, Donavon, Joey, Sophia “June Bug” and great-grandchild, Korbin.
