Melba Ruth Spikes, 92, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on January 22, 2013 at Richfield Healthcare and Rehab in Salem, VA.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends after the service according to Colonial Funeral Home 613 14th Street Phenix City, AL 36867.
Mrs. Spikes was born in Maxeys, GA on June 17, 1920 to the late Minnie and Fred Adams. Melba was a longtime employee of Bush Jewelry where she worked in the credit department. She later went on to open her own collection agency, called Columbus Phenix Collection.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Floyd Spikes, Sr., three brothers, Fred Adams, Julian Adams and Kennan Adams.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Jimmy Spikes and wife, Amber, with whom she had made her home for the past year in Salem, VA, grandchildren, Brian Spikes of Columbus, GA, Shane Spikes and Amanda Spikes both of Salem, VA.
