Maxine Phipps Hall, 85, of Columbus, Georgia went to be with the Lord on October 1, 2018.
She will be buried next to her husband, Harston Hall. Visitation will be held at McMullen Funeral Home on Thursday, October 4th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Bethlehem Cemetery in Malvern, Alabama on Friday at 1:00 PM ET with son-in-law Pastor Michael Sanes officiating.
Maxine was born November 21, 1932 in Springfield, Tennessee to James and Tommie Phipps. Maxine was a dedicated volunteer at the Open Door Community House for 63 years. Her life of service was honored in the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer on Friday, April 29, 2005.
She began volunteering when she was only 22 years old. She worked in the clothing bank, taught sewing and quilting, helped with Cub Scouts and Brownies and offered a smile and kind word for all who needed help. She later learned ceramics and then taught others what she learned offering lasting memories for those who still have a personal masterpiece in their home.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and will be missed by all.
She is survived by her five children, Royce (Gloria) Hall, Ronald (Myra) Hall, Douglas (Lisa) Hall, Donna (Russell) Breault and Kelly (Mike) Sanes. She especially loved her 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and her older sister, Ruth Dixon. Her legacy of love continues on in heaven.
