Mavis L. Williams, 82, died Thursday, December 12, 2013 at her residence.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, December 16, 2013 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907 with the Rev. Larry Langford and Chaplain Allison Owen officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
Mavis was born in Telfair County, GA and spent most of her life in Columbus. She loved her family dearly. Most of all she enjoyed attending Sarah Kate's softball games, cooking with Mary Beth and watching the University of Alabama and SEC Football games.
Mavis was preceded in death by her parents; George M. and Mary Lou Williams, two older sisters; Gladys Jefferies (Plas) and Eunice Williams (Carl), Niece Carolyn Jefferies, nephew; David Collier Wills, Jr., Great-great Nephew; Austin Jefferies and great-great Niece; Abby Grace Williams.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews; Rosemary Culpepper (Wally), Pat Youmans (Woot), Roy Jefferies (Ethel), Sandra Graves, Michael Anderson and Delina (Chuck), Sarah Kate and Mary Beth Jenkins.
Other survivors include nieces and nephews; Tommy Youmans (Wanda), Jeff (Tonya), Courtney and Adam Youmans, Rene (Jason), Spencer and Addison Cook, Leslie (Rich), Eli, Sam and Ella Hampton, Mitch and Drew Jefferies, Shelly (Jason), Emma Kate, Anna Lee and Caroline Williams.
To honor Mavis' love of softball and college football, the family request that those who attend her memorial service wear their favorite team's shirt or colors. A private burial at Evergreen Memory Gardens will follow the service.
