Master Sgt. Freddie Lee Thomas, 86, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Orchard View Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center in Columbus, GA.
A private family graveside service will be held at 9:30 AM Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Father Robert Schlageter officiating according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Freddie was born January 03, 1934 in Fort Payne, AL to the late James Ruel and Nora Jones Thomas. He retired after twenty years from the U.S. Air Force and worked for twenty-two years as an Electronic Technician at Ft. Benning, GA. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Bud Thomas and James Thomas.
Freddie, honorably served his country in the Airforce for 20 years. He fought in both the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was not only an airman but a loving husband, father and grand-father. He loved grilling, playing his guitar, and singing for friends and family. He will be missed.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years Rosario Thomas, daughters: Sandy LeRoy (Kevin) and her daughter's Rachel and Abby LeRoy of Columbus, GA; Elisa Garrett (Ian) and her son Myles Garrett of Austin, TX.; sons: Dennis Thomas (Angie) and his son Christopher Thomas of Columbus, GA.; Kenny Thomas, Butch Thomas, Gene Thomas (Darlene) and Steve Thomas all of Bessemer, AL; sisters: Opal Sprouse of Atlanta, GA, and Sis Sellers of Bessemer, AL., and numerous family members and friends who meant the world to him.
