Mary Ann Sheehan was born July 8, 1937, in Macon GA to the late John Russell Zeigler and Grace Bates Zeigler. Mary Ann graduated from Miller High School for Girls in Macon GA, in 1956. After moving to Columbus GA in 1960 with her husband, she worked for Kirven's, Warren's Kiddie Shop, Matthews on Wynnton, the Toy House, and Jordan High School. Mary Ann was honored to serve as a Muscogee County Crossing Guard, her favorite job, for 47 years.

She is survived by her husband of almost 63 years, Richard (Dicky) Sheehan; a son Richard (Rick) Sheehan, his wife Laurie, and a daughter, Kathy Sheehan; her brother John R Zeigler, her brother-in-law James A Smith III, and three sisters-in-law Clarice Sheehan, Lottie Sheehan, and Carol Sheehan.

Mary Ann leaves us a legacy with four granddaughters: Charity See, Ashley McAlpine, Tessa French, and Kendall Sheehan; two grandsons, Joseph Veal and Evan Sheehan, as well as three great-grandchildren: Mason McAlpine, Harper Sheehan, and Remi French.

She also leaves many nephews and nieces and their families: the Zeiglers, Sheehans, Smiths, and Farrs.

There is nothing like friends, and although we cannot list them all, these were some of her closest friends, even from childhood. Ann Grossman, Mary Jane Weatherington, Peggy Snap, Kim Baker, Sue Rutkowski, and Faye Fleming.

The Sheehan family would like to say a special thank you to all of the loving caregivers and staff at Columbus Hospice. There are no words that can express how grateful we are to you.
