Mary Jane White

Mary Jane White, 83, of Marietta, GA died Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Wellstar Paulding Hospital in suburban Atlanta.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM, Saturday, September 30, 2023 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory in Columbus, GA with Rev. Dwayne Pace officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 2, 2023 at Parkhill Cemetery with family and close friends in attendance.
Jane was born July 16, 1940 in Columbus to the late Howard J. and Alma Lane White. After graduating from Jordan Vocational High School in 1958, she attended Columbus College and Georgia State University on her way to a long career in teaching, mostly in Cobb County at L.D. Clay Elementary and later at Trinity Chapel Academy. After retirement, Jane returned to her hometown of Columbus for several years.
In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her sister, Sue Thaxton.
She is survived by her two sons, Andrew “Andy” Askew and Adam Askew; daughter, Angela Askew Murray; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
