Linda Stelzenmuller (05/21/1941 – 05/17/2023)
Mary Linda Stelzenmuller died peacefully on May 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
A Columbus native, Linda was born on May 21, 1941. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James G. Stelzenmuller Jr. of Columbus and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Russell of Columbus and Mr. and Mrs. James G. Stelzenmuller of Foley, AL.
Linda graduated from Columbus High School in 1960 and attended Auburn University. After college, she raised her three children before joining her mother to work at their boutique, Dee Dee’s. She was a dedicated, loving mother to Traci, Chris, and Grey. She was also “Inda” to her granddaughter, Alexis, who adored her.
Linda enjoyed her life in Columbus and was a lifelong member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Columbus Country Club, and The Big Eddy Club. Other than being an avid 5.0 tennis player and equestrian, one of her greatest passions was animals, to which she gave much of her time and talents. She worked tirelessly to ensure that stray cat colonies around Columbus never missed a meal. Her dedication once prompted her to bike nine-miles, while leaving a trail of hot dogs for two stray dogs to follow. Those dogs later became beloved family pets named Lady and Tramp. The only thing she may have loved more than helping animals was Auburn football.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. James G. Stelzenmuller Jr.; her former husband, Robert Dell Harman; and her son-in-law, Mark D. Porter of Columbus. She is survived by her brother, James G. Stelzenmuller III (Patsy) of Columbus; children Traci Harman Howard (Doug) of Knightstown, IN, Chris R. Harman (Noah) of Columbus, Grey R. Harman of Columbus; and her granddaughter, Alexis Laney Howard of Knightstown, IN, nephew, James Grey Stelzenmuller IV, and niece, Bonnie J. Stelzenmuller.
Linda’s family would like to express gratitude to the doctors, nurses and caregivers who loved her, particularly Tiffany and Ashley of Columbus Hospice, Mary Ann Powell and Timothy Buckner.
There will be a visitation at the home of Chris Harman on Sunday, May 21, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The celebration of life and burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023, at Riverdale Cemetery and officiated by The Reverend John Fugh according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Linda Stelzenmuller Memorial Fund at Animal Ark Rescue: 2509 Manchester Expressway Columbus, GA 31904.
