Mary Ann South

Mary Ann South 80, of Columbus, GA died  Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Columbus Hospice House.

A Memorial service will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Beallwood Church of God 1113 43rd Street, Columbus, Georgia 31904 with Rev. Kenneth Savage officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Mrs. South was born April 9, 1941 in Coweta, GA daughter of the late Johnnie B. Beckom and Bernice Eason Beckom. She worked in sales for the Tupperware Lady, and at one time owned a carpet and floor company. She loved to plant flowers, read magazines, taking care of people, teaching how to cook, and spending time with her family.

Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Richard Lee South; son, Richard “Richie” Lee South, Jr; daughter, Lisa Michelle South, grandchild, Ashley McQuinn, two sisters, and six brothers.

She is survived by her daughter Freida Hammond of Columbus, GA, sisters, Janelle Peterman (Billy), and Catherine Beckom of Georgia, brothers, Perry Beckom of Lagrange, GA, Jackie Beckom (Carla) of Lagrange, GA, daughter-in-law, Susan South of Fortson, GA, three grandchildren, Cale South, Ray McQuinn, Anslee Hammond, three great-grandchildren, Jordan Hammond, Zack  South and Josh McQuinn.
