Mary Emma Shavers, 87 of Waverly Hall, GA died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Friday, March 16, 2012 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA with Rev. Dan MacMinn officiating. Interment will follow in Willis Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Shavers was born September 30, 1924 in Waverly Hall, GA daughter of the late Thomas P. Dent and Bertha Estelle Culverhouse Dent. She was the owner of Shavers Grocery Store in Columbus and was a member of Olive Branch Methodist Church in Waverly Hall.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Millard Shavers, daughter, Sara Annette Jordan, and brother, John Preston Dent.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Garrett (Donald) of Waverly Hall, GA, grandchildren, Kristie Crow (Rick) of Columbus, GA, Scott Garrett of Waverly Hall, GA and Keith Garrett (Paige) of Midland, GA, great grandchildren, Christopher Willis and Kimberly Willis both of Columbus, GA, Anthony DeSteno and Alexander DeSteno both of Midland, GA, Collin Crow and Aubrey Boulware both of Columbus, GA, son-in-law, Donald Jordan of Columbus, GA, sister-in-law, Elsie Dent of Waverly Hall, GA, several nieces and nephews, and special friend, Linda Davis.
