Mrs. Mary Angela McDowell, 69, of Cataula, GA, went home to be with the Lord Monday, October 5, 2020. Angela was born June 7, 1951 in Columbus, Ga to the late Emmett and Mary Wright Wooten.

Angela worked for Tom’s Foods for 25 years. She was a Georgia Bulldog fan. She also loved camping, fishing, walking, going to the mountains in North Georgia and visiting Cape San Blast in St. Joseph Peninsula and Indian Pass in Florida.  She loved reading the Bible and studying God’s word. Angela was a member of Edgewood Assembly of God Church, where she was very active in Sunday school and The Precious Stone Women’s ministry.  She loved to prepare meals and was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, James McDowell of the home; four children, Nikki McDowell Loyless (Donnie) of Covington, GA, Brandi McDowell Alford (Kevin) of Hamilton, GA, Emily Davenport of Cataula, GA and Chris McDowell (Mandy Stubbs) of Cataula, GA; grandchildren, Brooke Cumbie, Josh Loyless, Mark Highnote, Savannah McDowell, Sam McDowell, Jamie Alford, Mason Alford, and Sydney Hansinger; two great-grandchildren, Christian Cumbie and Kensley Cumbie.  She was also survived by her Boston terrier dog, “Buster”; and two best friends whom she considered her sisters, Linda Page-Williams and Elaine Singletary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Greg Wooten.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at the Edgewood Assembly of God with the Rev. Charles Hayes and Rev. Adam Pepperday officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 P.M. prior to the service at the church. A private interment will follow on Thursday at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Edgewood Assembly of God for the Precious Stones Women’s Ministry P.O. Box 6446 Columbus, GA 31917.
