Mary Lee Welch Mathis, 92, born April 22, 1923 in Columbus, GA and died Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 26, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dale Mathis officiating. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery 4121 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA 31907. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at McMullen Funeral Home. The funeral home is located at 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Mathis was born in Columbus, GA daughter of the late Dewey H. Welch and Vickie Irene Allen Welch. She was a homemaker.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Delma Mathis, Sr. who died October 1980 and is buried at Parkhill Cemetery.
Survivors include her children, Mary Gwen Mathis of St. Pete, FL, Sandy Mathis of Dunnellon, FL, Julian Delma Mathis, Jr. of Pooler, GA, Michael R. Mathis of St. Pete, FL and Marilyn Kay Mathis Weatherford of Pendergrass, GA, plus 13 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, two nieces, Anna and Debbie, and one nephew, Rocky.
