Mary Ellen Koca Lee, at the age of 70, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 6th, from 6:00-8:00 pm at McMullen Funeral Home. Funeral Service to be held on Thursday, at 11:00 in the McMullen Chapel. Graveside service to follow at Park Hill Cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory.
Mary Lee is the daughter of the late Francis Anthony and Loretta Kienitz Koca. Mary Lee was born on July 11, 1947 in Milwaukee, WI. She graduated college from Alverno College of Nursing in 1969 in Milwaukee and later joined the US Army Nurse Corps on June 6, 1967. Mary Lee proudly served her country for 22 years, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. During her service she earned a Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, as well as many other commendations.
Mary Lee is most known for the love for family, service to her country, devotion to her faith and as an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, serving as a greeter and faithful parishioner. Upon retirement from BCBS, her hobbies included traveling, cross stitching, puzzles, and baking the Famous, and often requested, Lady Wisconsin Cake, Rum Cake, Cream Puffs and special Pecan Finger Cookies. With a passion for her "fur babies," Mary Lee was an ardent supporter of rescue pets, and was a donor to several local animal shelters.
Mary Lee is proceeded in death by her husband, Franklin Lynn Lee and her brother, Stephen Koca (Janet) of Titusville, FL.
She is survived by her two daughters, Vickie Waites (Michael) and Mary Anne Woyke (Dennis). Surviving Grandchildren include Angie Everson (Keith), Michael "Buster" Waites, Jr. (Kristen), Amy Woyke all of Harris County Georgia and Steven Woyke (Emily) from Smith Station, Alabama. Mary Lee was blessed with four great-Grand children: Blake Everson, Alli Gray Everson, Lola Belle Waites, and Michael Waites III, all of Harris County Georgia. Surviving siblings include Lynn Wyman and Monica Koca of Hales Corner, WI, Nancy Cain (Ken) of Waldorf, MD, Teresa Koca (BJ) of Chippowa Falls, WI and Jane Koca of San Jose, CA; sister in law, Linda Lee Allen of Dallas, GA, as well as, numerous nieces and a nephew.
Known to most as "Mamaw", Mary will be greatly missed! She will be remembered with many smiles, stories and unconditional love which will serve as a comfort to all who knew and loved her!
