Mary Anne Carrington Koepsell, "Molly", died peacefully Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at Covenant Woods surrounded by loving family members and Columbus Hospice.

The Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 17, 2014 at St. Anne's Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. A Rosary will be said 6:00 PM, Thursday, October 16, 2014 at St. Anne's Catholic Church.

A devoted Catholic, she was a charter member of St. Anne's Catholic Church where she served as one of the first female lectors and later served as an usher and altar duty.

Born in Milwaukee, WI on July 25, 1928, she attended the University of Tennessee from 1946-1948. She graduated from Ohio State in 1950 and earned her Master's degree from Auburn University in 1963. She was married to Harvey Koepsell in 1952 in Wawatosa, WI. She began her career in education at Baker High School in 1963 and taught at Pacelli, Kendrick, Jordan, and Russell County High Schools. She retired because of glaucoma, but loved cross-stitch and embroidery before its onset. She was a member, public speaker, and president of Parents without Partners (PWP) and loved to travel. Passionate about MENSA and its members, she thoroughly looked forward to attending its meetings for 30 years.

She will be remembered for her wit and her absolute zeal for knowledge, learning, and mental challenges. Known as a jokester, she kept family members laughing on her deathbed. One of her favorite pastimes was asking questions about anything and everything, and she was a devoted fan of Jeopardy, answering most questions with ease.

Because of her love of reading, despite the fact that she was blind, she became a Pink Lady at the Medical Center where she devoted 8, 000 hours of volunteer work to ensure that the hospital was amply supplied with magazines, many of which she personally secured by begging friends, neighbors, and family members to donate.

Because of her service, she was presented the "Giving Your Best" award by Channel 3 for spreading her love of reading and providing so many magazines for others.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Carrington; mother, Mary G. Coyle Carrington; her brother, Bill Carrington; and her precious little yellow cocker spaniel, "Daisy".

She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Ratliff (Terry) of Columbus, Mary Ellen Vaden (Carr) of Lilburn, and Jeanne Koepsell of Manassas, VA; son, Mike Koepsell and his fiancé, Faye of Columbus; granddaughters, Heather Brooks (Brit) of Fortson, Maggie Schubert (Damon) of Dawsonville , Jeannie Koepsell of Manassas, and SeAnna Koepsell of Lakeland, FL; grandsons, Dustin Smith of Senoia, Thomas Vaden (Rachel) of Utah, Kenny Bullman (Dale), Bryan Koepsell both of Auburndale, FL and her best friend, LTC (Ret.) Russ Eno of Columbus, and eleven great-grandchildren.

She graciously donated her body to the Medical University of Georgia in Augusta.
