Mary Joan Knight, 75, of Cataula, GA died Monday, January 14, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Mickey Adams officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Mrs. Knight was born April 4, 1943 in Lexington, KY daughter of the late Arnold Hays, Sr. and Nell Shoemaker Hays. She previously worked as an Administrative Assistant for State Farm Insurance. She was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. She did outreach once a month with nursing homes in Waverly Hall, GA.
She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and listening to their stories. She enjoyed painting, art, painting crafts and statues for the yard, working in the yard and taking care of her plants and rose bushes.
Survivors include her husband, Pete Knight of Cataula, GA, son, Patrick Knight (Michelle) of Cataula, GA, grandchildren, Amber Knight and Brandon Knight, brother, Arnie Hays, Jr. (Earlyn), sister, Betty Hays, and many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital www.stjude.org.
