Columbus, GA - Mary Helen Jones, 85, of Columbus died Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Columbus Hospice House.
Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Evans Cemetery in Phenix City, AL with Pastor Roger Morrison officiating. The following will serve as honorary pallbearers Mark Buice, Robert Thomas, Ricky McRae, Chris Wood, LittleJohn Bruer, Michael Tillman, Eddie Tillman, Kay Corley Rasbury, Christine Cleveland Salter. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 till 8 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, 613 14th St., Phenix City, AL 36867.
Ms. Jones was born April 6, 1924 in Phenix City, AL daughter of the late Charles Brady Jones and Nora Mae Smith Jones Holcomb. She retired in 1989 from Sunshine Biscuit Company as a packer in the sandwich department. She was an avid reader, wonderful seamstress and a lover of the Arts and the Performing Arts. She was active at the Gallops Senior Center and also the Central Activities Center. She was preceded in death by her stepfather Roy Snooks.
Survivors include her daughter Diana M. Campo of Edmond, OK; son George H. Jones and daughter-in-law Joan Watkins (Joni) Jones; granddaughter Jessica E. Jones and grandson Garrett G. Jones all of Cataula, GA; cousins Michael Tillman (Emily) of Columbus, GA, Eddie Tillman (Peggy), Miriam Allen Hart, Linda Hughley Whipple all of Phenix City, AL, Joanna James and Dan James both of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; friends Madie Turner of Phenix City, AL, Jewell Howard, Mary Pennington, Betty Jo Lifsey, and Barbara Justice all of Columbus, GA and Cleo Rosam of Key West, FL.
