Mom attended school at Beallwood Elementary and Jordan Vocational High School. She left school at 17 to marry Sgt Robert Gabe. After tours of duty with her husband in Germany and Fort Bragg she returned to Columbus, GA, where she remained the rest of her life. In January, 1967, she married Sgt James W. Gulsby and remained married to him until his death in June, 1998. Her working life began when she was 13 at Magic Oven Bakery in Columbus, Ga. She completed her working life at Swift Spinning Mill in Columbus, GA. While working and caring for her children she obtained a GED with a score to exceed the level of school she completed. She was proud of that accomplishment. She enjoyed taking trips with her family to Fort Walton/Destin, FL, during the summer months. After her retirement she enjoyed taking trips to Nashville, TN, as well as other historical places.
She was predeceased by her husband, James W Gulsby, her oldest daughter, Dianne Gabe McAllen, and two brothers, William Murphy and Danny Murphy.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Rosa Lee Gabe of Troy, NY, Laura Jean Gabe of Cusseta, GA, Robert E Gabe of Warner Robins, GA, and David Michael Gabe of Cusseta, GA. Grandchildren Carissa Benjamin Wright (Tim) and great grandchildren Hazel and Xander, Sara Elizabeth Nieves and great grandchildren Madeline and Caleb, John McAllen (Leslie) and great grandchildren Jace and Josh, David (Jeannette) Gabe and great grandchildren Devon and Wesley; grandson Richard Matthew (Deanna) Gabe. Her brother, Toney Murphy (Wanda) of Union Gap, TN and sisters in law, Judy Murphy of Butler, GA, and Ida Gulsby of Tifton, GA. Also a special remembrance for her "Sister Girl", Mrs. Wavie McCaulley of Columbus, GA., a very dear and precious friend for many years. Love to her "adopted" children Kathryn and Lenny Cripps of Marlow, OK.
Mom requested that we also list her Furbabies and Grand Furbabies-Wally Bear, Baxter, Sha Sha (Little Man) and Missy (Scooter Bug) of Columbus and Missy Girl and Buggs of Cusseta--And all creatures great and small.
Mom has requested that any remembrances' be made to PAWS for all the furbabies. Flowers were always special to her; however the family asks that you grant them a quiet time now and refrain from making donations to her home.
