Mary Frances Fondren 90, of Columbus, Georgia died Saturday, October 03, 2020 at the Columbus Hospice House.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 07, 2020 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Georgia 31907 with Rev. Mike McBride officiating. Interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 Wednesday at the funeral home. In keepings with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory will be following the recommendations set by the Columbus Consolidated Government and Governor Brian Keep by requiring face coverings and social distancing for those attending the services.
Mrs. Fondren was born September 03, 1930 in Samson, Alabama daughter of the late Melzie and Victoria Alford Lee. She was a member of Trinity Temple Assembly of God Church and worked many years as a Cosmetologist and also worked for Kirven’s Department for 15 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, needle point and working in her yard. She cut her own grass up until she was 88. Her family states she cut a tree down just months ago with an axe. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Other than her parents, Mrs. Fondren is preceded in death by her husband Roy Clinton Fondren and her son, Steve Allen Tovey and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children; Mike Tovey and his wife Sheree’ of Upatoi Georgia, Dwain Tovey and his wife Pam of Fortson, Georgia and Ronda Fondren Todd of Columbus, Georgia; sister, Dorothy Lee Hughes of Salem, Alabama, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
